Unity in the Community Mending the Gaps gave Lima residents the opportunity to pick up information and talk to representatives from a variety of different organizations. They could learn about heart health from Lima Memorial Health System, pick up free food distributed by the West Ohio Food Bank in partnership with Lima's NAACP, or enjoy fun things like snow cones, face painting, and yard games.

The event was hosted at Cook Park in the 5th ward to be closer to home and more accessible for residents.

"Unity in the Community Mending the Gaps is all about coming together as one community in the city of Lima; just bring out all of the organizations and bringing out all of the information and resources that are available for our community into one space, mainly focusing on areas that may not know about the resources that are available," explained Lima 5th Ward councilman Thomas Jones.

Donations were also collected at the event to support scholarships for Lima youth.
