VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) — A Celina man was found guilty of killing his former girlfriend in Van Wert in 2023.
Ryan Houser, 39, was found guilty of the murder of Barbara Ganger after pleading no contest in Van Wert Common Pleas Court on Thursday. As part of the no contest plea, the remaining charges against him were dropped.
On Labor Day 2023, Van Wert police officers were called to Ganger's apartment for a welfare check. They found her dead with gunshot wounds to the stomach and the eye.
Houser was later arrested in Mercer County on a weapons charge. That case remains open in Mercer County.
Houser is scheduled to be sentenced on May 7. He faces a possible sentence of 15 years to life in prison for the murder charge.
