LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A former director of the Allen County RTA is facing seven felony charges for allegedly stealing from the agency.

Former Allen County RTA Director indicted on theft and fraud charges

Shelia Haney allegedly stole around $27,000 from the RTA.

According to the Ohio Auditor’s Office, Shelia Haney was indicted by an Allen County grand jury on charges of theft in office, tampering with records, and telecommunications fraud. She allegedly stole around $27,000 from the RTA.

The Auditor’s Special Investigation Unit launched an investigation after discrepancies were found in Haney’s expense reports and the money from the sale of a salvage vehicle.

Haney was contracted to serve as executive director in September 2012. She was hired as a full-time employee in September 2019 and left the RTA five months later.

According to the Allen County Clerk of Courts' website, Haney is currently living in Cibolo, Texas.

There is no record yet of her first court appearance.
