David Evans makes first court appearance

The man who confessed to killing a Lima man 15 years ago makes his first court appearance on the charge.

35-year-old David Evans has been charged with one count of murder, and is being held on a half a million dollar bond. According to the Lima Police Department, last week Evans turned himself in at police department and confessed to the murder of Cardell "Bob" Beachum.

The murder took place on July 2, 2001 outside the Beachum's business, Sports and Sorts on St. John's Avenue. Beachum, who was 69 years old at the time of his murder was closing up the pool hall when he encountered Evans as he exited the business. Neighbors and passerbys heard the shots and soon after Beachum was found shot to death in the parking lot.

Evans will be in court next week for his preliminary hearing.
