Veterans Saluting Generic

June 3, 2024, Press Release from the Auglaize County Veterans Service Office: Wapakoneta, Ohio – The Auglaize County Veterans Service Office (VSO) is proud to invite all veterans and the public to the Dedication Ceremony for the new Auglaize County Veterans Pavilion. This special event will take place on June 14 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

The new pavilion, constructed by Baumer Construction from Minster, Ohio, is a testament to the Auglaize County VSO’s commitment to honoring and supporting its veterans. Featuring special artwork representing the armed forces, the pavilion provides a comfortable gathering area for veterans during fair week. Local Veteran Service Organizations can rent the pavilion at no cost. Veterans, their families and the general public must pay a rental fee.

Conveniently located near the race track and horse shoe pits, the pavilion offers ample parking and is equipped with a restroom. A unique feature of the pavilion is a restroom equipped with an adult changing table, a collaborative project with the Auglaize County Department for Developmental Disabilities. This facility ensures that individuals with special needs have access to a comfortable and secure space, enabling them to enjoy events with their families worry-free.

The Auglaize County VSO, led by Rob Wiss (Director/Veterans Service Officer), Sherrye Lamma (Investigator/Veterans Service Officer), Nick Neace (Administrative Assistance/Benefit Counselor), and Preston Keith (Veterans Service Officer), along with the Veterans Service Commissioners, is dedicated to providing a wide range of supportive services to veterans and their families. These services include access to healthcare, compensation, pensions, and emergency financial assistance for essential needs such as shelter, electricity, heat, water, and food.

The VSO office, located at 209 South Blackhoof St., Rm 202 in Wapakoneta, is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. For more information, they can be reached by phone at 419-739-6750 or by email at veterans@auglaizecounty.org .

The Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce will perform a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Noon. The Auglaize County Veteran Services will provide refreshments and snacks.

Join us in celebrating the dedication of this important new resource for our veterans and the community.
