Since 2002, Diane Bishop has been part of the Allen County Council on Aging as its Executive Director. But now, after serving nearly 30 years between Allen and Putnam counties, Bishop is stepping down from her role.
In the years that she's worked in Allen County, Bishop says she has seen a lot of support from the organization.
"I could not do any of this without the Board of Directors and the staff members; it’s been an honor and an incredible privilege to be here in Allen County and work as the Executive Director," said Bishop.
It's been a lot of work, but being able to help area seniors has meant a lot to Bishop, and there are many things that she says she'll miss as she leaves.
"The staff members, the community connections that we have created, the partnerships, the sponsorships, we work with businesses and other nonprofit agencies all year long," Bishop said.
There are a lot of hopes that Bishop has for the council once Michael Hensley takes over her position as Executive Director.
"Accomplishing or perhaps adding a program, the new director will be able to think about that and find out what more we could be doing for the seniors, but certainly maintaining the services we have now and then adding services if possible," said Bishop.
