If you are not in the Christmas mood just yet, then you were not in downtown Kenton Tuesday night.
The city got everybody in the spirit with their annual Lions Club Christmas Parade and the Chamber’s Window Wonderland. There were over 40 floats and participants that lit up the parade route through downtown Kenton. And a course, Santa didn’t miss the chance to stop and say hi to everyone. Also, 19 storefronts, turned on their holiday displays for people to check out. Besides the holidays, there is a lot of excitement in the Historic Courthouse District with some major improvements coming in the near future.
“We are really starting to grow our downtown. We're getting ready to embark on a 20 million dollar downtown revitalization. So the parade in the next couple of years may be challenging, but we will get through it. Our downtown is really starting to come back and Kenton is really on a comeback and we are really excited,” said Jacqualine Fitzgerald, Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance Downtown Development.
The project will improve the infrastructure below and above in the downtown area, with new water lines, sidewalks, and beautification of downtown Kenton.
