Elida Schools art exhibit

Students with the Elida School District had the chance to show off their art skills Saturday (May 20) afternoon.

The annual district art exhibit showcases around 800 pieces of art from grades K through 12 in the Elida School District.  Those pieces of art ranged from ceramics and drawings to sculpture and mixed media.  It was a good time for families to come out and see what their students have been learning in class, giving the arts some time in the spotlight.

"I think a lot of times art isn't a main focus in the school system, and so it's nice to see what they're doing for extracurricular things; the arts are so important in our school systems and it's really awesome to see what they're doing in their classes," said Amy Follin, the art teacher for Elida High School.  "For a lot of students, art is their outlet, and it's really amazing to see were a lot of students shine and do well."

Awards were given out based on skills by guest art teachers.
