LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Businesses need to listen to their workforce's needs and become flexible to retain and attract employees.
That from the executive director of the Greater Ohio Workforce Board who spoke to area business leaders at the Lima Allen County Chamber's Forecast Breakfast. He says the emerging workforce has specific wants, values, and preferences that are similar to our current workforce. Such as making enough to support their family and a stable job. But the way they go about finding that job has changed.
"I did mention that this generation really relies on social media and specifically YouTube to see what working for a business looks like. Working in an industry or a specific occupation. They're looking seeing what the data out there is and often going to YouTube and saying what's a day in the life of a CNC operator, what's the day in the life of a chef, what's the day in the life of a phlebotomist at a health care provider," said John Trott, executive director of Greater Ohio Workforce Board.
Trott says businesses really need to get an online presence to meet that need of how the new generation of workforce employees look for jobs.
