Findlay Whirlpool Plant to expand

The Findlay Whirlpool plant is growing.

Company officials this week announced a big expansion project.

Whirlpool will invest more than $40 million at its dishwasher manufacturing facility, located on N. Main St. in Findlay.

The 86,400 sq. ft. expansion will provide additional assembly capacity and will improve the flow of parts and products through the plant.

It will also mean more jobs.

“We’re talking about roughly 50 additional jobs will be available here. Obviously we’re excited about that. It’s great for us and great for the community.“ said Dale Laws, Vice President of Findlay Operations.

Groundbreaking for the expansion is scheduled for this spring.

“We will break ground sometime in the April timeframe. We’ll finish up the building here in the fall of 2016 and then the final project will completed fall of 2017.“added Laws.

Since 2010, Whirlpool has invested more than $1 billion in new facilities and plant upgrades, including a $40 million expansion of its Greenville, Ohio manufacturing plant. That move will result in 400 new jobs by 2018.
