"Presenting Your Best Self: Soft Skills for Career Success" is a joint effort of the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce, Apollo Career Center, and The Heartland Image Foundation. They recognized the need for local businesses and industries to have employees who have good communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. It will be a project of the new Hub at the Central District.

"They'll learn what soft skills are versus hard skills and why soft skills are important. Then we're going to go into a career assessment. We'll also going to do a DISC assessment, which is about knowing your personality and knowing the people around you. So you're not just; it's not just be nice; it's I'm this way, you're that way; this is how we'll collaborate. That will be the first half; the second is, we have a crisis, and how do we navigate it together?" said Nick Kellis, the lead instructor.

The workshop is free and open to any high school or college student ages 14 to 21. It's Saturday, July 13th, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hub at Central District, located at 219 South Central Avenue. Space is limited, and you are asked to register at bit.ly/presentyourbestself. The workshop is underwritten by the Allen County Metropolitan Development Corporation. Kellis says they will be taping the workshop to hopefully get state funding for additional programs.
