FORT LORAMIE, Ohio (WLIO) — Anna stayed right on Russia’s heels in the Shelby County League standings with a 41-33 victory over Fort Loramie on Tuesday night at Redskin Gymnasium.
The Rockets took control in the second period, building a four-point lead before Adelynn McVety knocked down a 3-pointer from the top of the key to extend the advantage.
Fort Loramie answered a few minutes later as Liza Poeppelman capped a long possession with a jumper just inside the arc, keeping the Redskins within striking distance.
Poeppelman continued to lead Fort Loramie in the third quarter, drilling a 3-pointer — one of three triples on her way to a game-high 18 points — to pull the Redskins within five.
Anna responded quickly. Tori Osborn buried a 3-pointer midway through the third quarter to push the Rockets’ lead back to eight.
Fort Loramie countered again when Corynn Hoelscher connected on a mid-range jumper, but Anna consistently had an answer.
The Rockets’ ball movement proved to be the difference, as Adyson Bales scored inside to finish with a team-high 16 points.
Anna’s steady offense and ability to respond to every Fort Loramie run sealed the league win, keeping the Rockets firmly in the chase atop the Shelby County League standings.
