LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Allen East was searching for a spark after a slow stretch, and the Mustangs found it in a tightly contested league battle against Lima Central Catholic.
The game was back-and-forth from the opening tip. Ethan Hershberger set the tone early, winning the jump ball and finding Keagan Jones for the game’s first basket. Lima Central Catholic quickly answered, as Jordan Priddy tied things up and kept the Thunderbirds within striking distance throughout the opening minutes.
Jones helped Allen East create some breathing room with a three-pointer, but Priddy continued to respond for LCC, attacking the rim and pushing the tempo. The Thunderbirds leaned on their senior guard all night, as Priddy finished with a game-high 27 points.
Neither team was able to pull away. Brady Parker knocked down a corner three for Lima Central Catholic, only for Allen East to answer once again with Jones driving and finishing at the rim. Jones ended the night with 19 points, while Brady Brooks led the Mustangs with 21.
In the closing moments, Allen East made the necessary plays to hold on and secure a one-point victory. The Mustangs snapped a four-game losing streak with the 62–61 win, picking up a key league victory over the Thunderbirds.
