LIMA,OHIO (WLIO) - Allen County Commissioners swore in the new Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Tuesday morning. Interim Director Jared Gesler was joined by his family as he took the oath of office. Gesler was the former deputy director and had been with the department since 2022 working with area jurisdiction on planning and exercises for emergency preparedness. He is looking forward to moving into the director's position.
“My goal is to really expand those community partnerships. So, our first responders, our hospitals, and then community organizations as well. So just get our name out there and just see what we can do to further community preparedness,” says Gesler.
The search to replace Gesler as the deputy director is now underway.
