Get your flu shot to protect yourself and others from getting it

If you don’t have time for a flu shot, you don’t have time for the flu. That's according to Allen County Public Health.

Flu season is here and they can’t stress enough the importance of getting a flu vaccination. Last year was an unusual year for the flu with two major out breaks of two separate strains. It resulted in 9,000 flu-associated hospitalizations and 4 flu-related pediatric deaths. Health officials say there is plenty of vaccines available and getting one will decrease your chances of getting ill and if you do it will reduce your symptoms.

Allen County Health Commission says, “Flu is unpredictable and we don’t know what kind of season we are going to have this year. We do know though that getting an annual flu vaccine is the best thing people can do to reduce their chances of getting the flu and protect those around them.”

You can get a flu shot from your health care provider, health department, and at most pharmacies.
