People who are interested in becoming a volunteer for disasters like Hurricanee Matthew can receive disaster training.Â
The training is free to anyone interested - all they have to do is visit the local Red Cross chapter and ask how to get started. People who go through the training will learn how to help those who have been affected by a natural disaster, from hurricanes to floods.
That disaster volunteerism can start a little closer to home.
"One of the best ways to get training is to get involved in some of our local programs here, and get the training they need and be ready," said Derek Stemen, executive director of the Red Cross of North Central Ohio. "They don't need to have and experience, all they have to do is have the heart to serve and to give back."
People can also help those affected by Hurricane Matthew by texting "MATTHEW" to 90999 to donate $10Â to assist victims.
