FINDLAY, OH (WLIO) - Habitat for Humanity of Findlay and Hancock County officially launched their biggest building year yet.
For the first time in their 25-year history, three families took part in simultaneously raising the wall of their new homes.
For the first time in their 25-year history, three families took part in simultaneously raising the wall of their new homes. These are the first three of six homes to be built by Habitat this year and the third, fourth, and fifth of 20 homes to be built in the Krystal Ridge Addition neighborhood by the end of 2027. During the next 10 weeks, these families will now work hand in hand alongside 225 volunteers to make their homeowner dreams into a reality.
“We have many community partners that fund the lumber and land and nails that come together. We need corporate teams to put together volunteers. Over 200 volunteers on each house are needed to put that up in 10 weeks. Then, we have a construction team that's going to lead those volunteers through it. Then, the families have been working with their financial coaches and their family advocates; it's very much a habitat team and a habitat family that surround our families in order to make sure they're successful, said Wendy McCormick, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Findlay and Hancock County.
These are the first three of six homes to be built by Habitat this year and the third, fourth, and fifth of 20 homes to be built in the Krystal Ridge Addition neighborhood by the end of 2027.
New homeowner Kara Summers added, “That was a blessing. I was surprised. I was shocked that they were going to take a chance on me. Just being able to have shared this opportunity with my family and to know that it came from Habitat and it being them being so gracious and generous for doing this for communities.”
