LIMA (WLIO) — Delphos St. John's High School continued its postseason run Friday with an 8-1 victory over Fort Loramie High School in regional semifinal action at Cedarville University.
The Blue Jays struck first in the opening inning when Maddox Kroeger slipped a hit past the first baseman, allowing Andrew Elwer to score for a 1-0 lead.
St. John's added to its advantage in the fourth inning. Aiden Swick delivered an RBI triple to center field, bringing home Jackson Wiechart to make it 2-0. Later in the inning, Braden Lindeman found the gap in left-center field for another run-scoring hit as the Blue Jays stretched the lead to 3-0.
Fort Loramie answered in the fifth when Zach Dues beat out a throw to first base, driving in a run and trimming the deficit to 3-1.
The Blue Jays quickly responded, adding two more runs in the bottom of the inning, including another RBI from Kroeger, and continued to pull away the rest of the afternoon.
St. John's finished off the 8-1 victory to earn a spot in the next round of the Division 7 regional tournament.
