Findlay, Ohio (WLIO) - The Mazza Museum has been busy hosting events for all ages, but one exhibit displays the importance of Black History.

Located in the Catherine Freed Galleria are illustrations showing true stories of African Americans who shaped history. These pictures bring a visualization to the books that inspired the artwork. Each book is underneath their corresponding art, giving each viewer a chance to read parts of the book and connect it with the picture. The director of the Mazza Museum tells us about some of these inspiring stories.

Mazza Museum in Findlay showcases black history exhibit featuring inspiring African American stories

"We also have a piece that features MacNolia Cox from the book, "How Do You Spell Unfair?". She was the first African American to win the Akron Spelling Bee and then become a finalist in the National Spelling Bee. We also have an illustration by Martin Broad which shows the escape from slavery by Ellen Craft and her husband," says Dan Chudzinski, Director of the Mazza Museum.

By learning the representation of Black History through these lesser-known stories, the Mazza Museum continues to highlight black voices. This display will be up until the end of February, so be sure to check it out.
