Hawthorne Hill Closing It's Doors on October 18th

The owner of Hawthorne Hill Golf Course, Dr. Paul Scheiwiller, says the golf course will close it's doors on October 18th and that the property will be put up for sale in the near future.  Scheiwiller says the decision was tough one to make, but keeping the golf course open was not feasible.

Hawthorne Hills which opened in 1963, is the largest golf course in the area at 240 acres and according to Scheiwiller it's the most expensive to maintain.  And he adds, the cost of upkeep and maintenance far exceeds the income generated by the course. He says he will entertain offers to take over the course or to re-purpose the property.

The golf course has 4 full time employees, which will be considered for employment at one of the other four courses.  Scheiwiller also owns Tamarac Golf Course and is partner with Springbrook Golf Club with Tom Holtsberry.  Holtsberry owns Lost Creek Golfers Club, Colonial Golfers Club and will lease Tamarac from Scheiwiller for the 2016 golf season.Â
