An Allen County woman is serving probation after soliciting sex while knowing she was HIV positive.
Detective Steve Stechshulte says the police department received a tip that Kandance Patterson was actively working as an escort on backpage.com and knew she had HIV. In October, the then 21 year old was arrested and charged with a felony of engaging in solicitation after a positive HIV test. She was sentenced to 3 years probation. That includes staying off the Backpage website, counseling through crime victim services, and reporting requirements for communicable diseases.
