VAN WERT COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - An explosion destroyed a home in Van Wert County early this morning, sending one person to the hospital.

The Van Wert County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call at 5 a.m. on Wednesday of a house explosion in the 3200 block of Wolfcale Road, southwest of Convoy. One resident was injured and transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Another resident and two dogs made it out uninjured. The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the incident.

Wednesday December 4, 2024 - Van Wert County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a house explosion in the 3200 block of Wolfcale Road in Harrison Township. Convoy Fire and EMS, along with Van Wert Fire, Wren Fire, and Ohio City Fire, were dispatched for the call. Deputies and CERT responded to assist with traffic. American Electric Power was on the scene. There was one resident transported to Parkview Regional Hospital with injuries. A second resident and two dogs made it out uninjured. The State Fire Marshal's Office has been contacted.
