LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Martin Luther King Jr. day is on Monday and people are celebrating all the greatness that he brought to the world.

"I Have a Dream" Awards Banquet returns for the 43rd year

Many people were given awards recognizing their hard work and dedication to keep Lima thriving.

The 43rd annual MLK awards dinner was hosted by Lima 6th ward councilman Derry Glenn on Sunday. Honoring Dr. King and all he did for the people with his "I have a dream" speech. Many people were given awards recognizing their hard work and dedication to keep Lima thriving.

"I'm very excited about what's going on in the city right now. We got a lot of good things going on. Our mayor and city council are doing great jobs. The administration and the people in the city are happy about it. We're trying to continue working together, making sure we see Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. smile down on Lima because we're doing everything right," said Derry Glenn, Lima 6th ward councilman.

"I'm thrilled to be here first of all, getting invited to be a keynote speaker at this special occasion is really special to me. Particularly around Martin Luther King day which means love, unity, and justice. So being here really excites me. The opportunity to share a few words by a man that's very well documented," said Joe Jordan, president & CEO of the Boys and Girls Club in NE Indiana and keynote speaker at the banquet.

They will also have their annual "I have a dream" walk on Monday at 3 pm. It will start at the corner of Holmes and Reese streets.
