The next year's funding for the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center has been made official.
President Trump signed a new law that will provide funding for Stryker Vehicles and Abram Tank upgrades at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center. This will upgrade 135 tanks using one and a half billion dollars. It includes using 225 million dollars to update Stryker Vehicles. The funding will increase production of the tanks to make sure they have the latest updates. Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown say the bill is good news for the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center.
"Like heck for the Lima tank plant, the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center every year, it was almost shut down during the Obama administration and we got a nice result this year. $1.5 billion going to the plant to upgrade these Abrams tanks that we need in our military right now and another $225 millions dollars for the Stryker vehicle which is an armor personnel carrier. We're upgrading those as well to make them more lethal including providing a turret on top of some of them which is something I've been pushing for a long time because groups in Europe want them," said Senator Rob Portman.
"We are always gonna look out for Lima. Senator Portman and I every week, either our staffs or we talk about what we need to do to make sure that people here that want to eliminate that that they don't have their way and good news for another year or two," said Senator Sherrod Brown.
The funding was 203 million dollars over the president's budget request.
