It's a location you wouldn't think you would spot kids over the summer but dozens are packing a local school library.

Thanks to a grant through the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Elida schools is hosting a free summer library program. They have been meeting on Wednesdays at both the elementary and middle school media centers. Each week has a different theme that has the youngsters learning about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, along with imagination and creativity.

"We're doing robots and aliens. There's these, you can make these aliens, there's green playdough and the other stuff," explained Morgan Thomas, 2nd grader.

"We have some projects that we been doing. One of the projects is making your own robot or alien and then you could've played with the playdough making little robots and aliens but you don't take it home, it's reusable for other kids," said Adrianna Ellingee, 4th grader.

"We're just trying to get the kids to experiment and do crafts, different activities, we have snacks planned for them but to learn something in a fun, fun way," said Mandy Henderson, Library Aide.

Next Wednesday, July 3rd, is the last session of the program and organizers invite everyone to come and have some fun. Kids pre-K through 4th graders meet at the elementary school media center at 9 a.m. and 5th through 8th-grade students will be at the middle school media center at 11 a.m.
