On Wednesday, the Ohio State University Extension Office brought their SNAP-Ed program to Faurot Park to teach the kids about staying active and eating healthy. They learned different games and activities they could do. Plus, they got some tips about how they should be eating a wide variety of colors of fruits and vegetables for the various nutrients and what percentage of their daily eating should be made up by them.

The parks program invites guest speakers to talk to the kids all summer long to make their experience both fun and educational.

"We really appreciate our guest speakers and people who come out to the park and take time out of their day to talk to our participants. They teach the participants about healthy lifestyle choices. We had fire safety come out and teach them about fireworks and the Fourth of July and some hazards with that," says Julia Washington-Allen, Lima Playground Coordinator.

The parks program also takes field trips, and they recently visited the Ohio State Lima campus and did a lot of fun activities.
