LACCA Changing Name To West Ohio Community Action Partnership

LACCA is a common name in Allen County. But soon, the agency will have a new name.

LACCA is changing its name to West Ohio Community Action Partnership, or West Ohio CAP for short.

The anti-poverty agency says the important part is the having "community action" in the name to help people identify what they do. They hope to have all signs at all three locations, vehicles, brochures and other materials, all changed by June.

Officials say the new name will better represent their services, since they have been serving Auglaize and Mercer counties since 2014.

"We don't want to confuse clients. They've probably heard of LACCA before and understood that it only serves Allen County, so we are really trying to get the name out, West Ohio CAP means that we are serving all three counties. You can come to us for help; we have physical locations in each county that people can go to if they are need of services," said Jackie Fox, CEO of LACCA. "We've already done this for a year and a half now, so it was time for the change of name and it just reflects, of course, our rich community action history and that we are serving the West Ohio region."

The agency will have a public ceremony to officially change its name in May, which is community action month.
