LAFAYETTE, Ohio (WLIO) — Behind a quiet home in Lafayette, the Ealy brothers have turned their backyard into something straight out of a nightmare.

“My love for Halloween started when I was about 5 or 6 years old, and, you know, just decorating the yard every year made me happy,” said Camden Ealy, a sophomore at Allen East High School.

Now 15, Camden’s been at it for a decade — collecting props, building sets and even coding his own animatronics.

“My favorite prop or animatronic thing is the stuff I make. I have fun building it, and especially doing all the code and design to it,” Camden said.

His younger brother, Casen, shares the same love of Halloween.

“It came from, like, a little animatronic we had on our front porch and just grew and just turned into this,” said Casen Ealy, an eighth grader at Allen East Middle School.

The Ealy brothers also work at the Haunted Town Hall, where they’ve picked up plenty of tricks of the trade.

“I scare act. Every once in a while, I can be between clown, a farmer, a dragon — whatever they throw me as,” Camden said.

Most of the props come from places like eBay, Facebook Marketplace or Halloween stores — and some they even build themselves.

They say the haunt takes all year to design and maintain, but for these brothers, the payoff comes in the screams.

“Definitely seeing other people’s reactions and how they get, you know, like, their reaction to it — it’s great,” Camden said.

“It’s like me-time, me and my brother hanging this stuff up. It’s probably the best part,” Casen said.
