LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A volunteer at a local afterschool Bible club for children celebrated her 107th birthday.

Mozelle Saylor, or Granny, as the kids call her, has been helping out with the AWANA kids club at Lima Baptist Temple Church with her granddaughter since she was 99 years old. She works with 3 and 4 year-olds and celebrates her birthday with her students each year.

Saylor is a former teacher, and says it's important to teach Christian values to the next generation, helping them grow up to be better adults.

"Part of my life has been going to Sunday school always, so these kids need to know the words of the Bible and what they really mean to them," she said.

"I think everybody loves grannies. I'm a granny myself and it's just an inspiration to have her here. They like to go up and give her a hug, and she'll hug them back. It's just a special time knowing that she's here," Connie Callahan, the director of the age 3-4 AWANA class, said of Saylor.

Mozelle's tips for living a long, happy life are loving your family, being polite, and eating healthy foods and Dove dark chocolate. She officially turns 107 on Thursday.
