A few Lima businesses felt it was time to give back to the community, just as students are going back to school.
Students in 6th grade and younger can pick up a free backpack at Lima Chevrolet Cadillac, Thursday through Saturday. They partnered with T&D Interiors and Walmart to purchase backpacks for the local students who may not have any. Inside they're filled with school supplies like folders, notebooks, coloring utensils and glue. This is the first year the car dealership has done something like this.
"We thought it was a good thing with the kids coming back to school to stop in, get a backpack, while supplies last here at the Lima Auto Mall," said Ryan Swaney, general sales manager at Lima Chevrolet Cadillac. "Like I said, it's just something to give back to the community. We're a car dealership, we sell cars, but lets give back to the community."
Swaney says people can call on Monday in case they may have any leftover backpacks.
