Lima council approves energy improvement project

Lima's city council has approved a financing project to benefit Lima's businesses.

The Greater Lima Energy Special Improvement District project will help Lima businesses by helping them improve the energy efficiency of their buildings. The program is open to any business in the Lima city limits. The first two businesses accepted into the district are the Lima-Allen County Chamber of Commerce and Valico, LLC, which owns a building on East Market Street. The chamber will receive $32,000 for light, heating, and cooling. Valico will receive $70,000 for energy improvements and a new roof. Both companies will be paying for the work through tax assessments over multiple years.

The city is accepting applications on an ongoing basis. Any Lima business can apply.
