LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The leaves are falling, and the City of Lima is gearing up for their leaf pick-up program. Residents in wards 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th, are asked to start raking their leaves to the curb lawn for leaf pick up starting November 13th. Make sure that all debris like branches, rocks, grass clippings, and trash are out of the pile of leaves and the piles are on the curb lawns and not in the street. Crews have the equipment to get the leaves from the curb lawn and foreign objects in them can damage the equipment and put collection efforts behind.
“Some folks rake up the sticks, a lot of debris. We even have grass clippings in the piles and that will break down our equipment if you have that in there. So, please make sure it's just leaves and rake them to the curb lawn,” says Warner Roach, Lima Deputy Public Works Director.
Residents can bag leaves and put them curbside on their regular trash day. Bags can be obtained for no cost at the city garage on South Collett St. and at the Billing and Collections Office on North Central Ave. Residents will need to show your water bill to get them. The 2nd, 3rd, and 7th wards pickup will occur after crews progress through the others.
