LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima man was arrested after he allegedly took a knife and slashed another man during an attempted robbery. 29-year-old Rashad Roberson was arrested and charged with suspicion of felonious assault and is being held at the Allen County Jail.
Lima detectives say officers were called out on Thursday to the area of Elizabeth and McKibben to find 55-year-old Anthony Reynolds suffering from knife wounds. Reynolds said on Wednesday that Roberson tried to steal his phone when he was coming home from work. Roberson pulled out a knife and allegedly started slashing the victim when he resisted. Reynolds had injuries to his wrist but didn't call the police or EMS that day. They were contacted when other people saw him out on Thursday covered in blood.
June 28, 2024, Press Release from the Lima Police Department: On 6/27/2024, just before noon, officers were dispatched to the area of Elizabeth and McKibben, in reference to a black male covered in blood. Upon their arrival, patrol officer arrived to find 55 year old Anthony Reynolds, suffering from knife wounds. Detectives were contacted and responded. During the investigation, it was learned that Mr. Reynolds was at his residence, at 22 Superior Court, on 6/26/24. He returned home from work around 4 pm. 29 year old Rashad Roberson, of Lima, was at the apartment. Mr. Roberson attempted to take Mr. Reynolds’ phones from him, by using force. When Mr. Reynolds resisted, Mr. Roberson took a knife from his bag and began slashing at Mr. Reynolds and slicing him on the wrist. Mr. Roberson fled shortly after. Mr. Reynolds did not seek medical attention or call the police. It wasn’t until the following day, when Mr. Reynolds was seen near the store.
Rashad Roberson was located and arrested shortly after police started to search for him. He returned to Superior Court and was taken into custody for suspicion of felonious assault and held at the Allen County Jail.
