LIMA, OH (WLIO) - General Dynamics gave Rotarians an update on the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center.
Representatives from the tank plant spoke to the Lima Rotary Club about what's new at the plant and what the coming years could look like. They explained how the variety of vehicles in production has increased in recent decades, including vehicles other than tanks and prototypes. The plant is also working on upgrading technology, like robotics, to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency.
"Our future here is very, very good. The investment the United States government is putting into JSMC is remarkably huge right now, and that's nothing but good for us here in Lima," said Gary Hadding, director of operations at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center.
Rotarians also got a history lesson, learning how the plant got started just before World War II and started significantly increasing production during the Cold War.
