FOSTORIA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Lima Senior Spartans captured the Division II district championship with an 85-50 win over the Anthony Wayne Generals.
Lima Senior entered the matchup holding a 7-3 edge in the all-time series and wasted little time taking control.
Shawn Foster opened the scoring by knocking down a three-pointer to get the Spartans on the board. Moments later, Foster struck again from the corner, giving Lima Senior a 13-7 lead and forcing Anthony Wayne to call timeout.
The Spartans kept the pressure on. Noah Simpson drained a deep three-pointer to extend the lead to 16-7. On the next possession, Simpson delivered an encore from nearly the same spot, continuing Lima Senior’s hot start from beyond the arc.
In the second quarter, the Spartans kept building their lead. Foster found Elynn Stearns inside for a bucket that got a friendly bounce.
Later, Willie Foster brought the crowd to its feet, flying in for a powerful two-handed slam.
Lima Senior rolled from there, securing the Division II district title with the 85-50 victory.
The Spartans will now rematch the Cincinnati Aiken Falcons in the regional semifinal on Wednesday, March 11th at Springfield High School.
