LIMA, OH (WLIO) -Â An exciting day for some students in the Lima area.
The selected group of ambassadors were introduced Wednesday night amongst their peers and families as they now prepare to embark on an exciting new journey ahead of them.
Wednesday evening, the Lima Sister Cities Association is kicking off the new year by announcing the students that will get the opportunity to travel to and explore Japan this coming summer. After wrapping up the interviews last Sunday, the selected group of ambassadors were introduced Wednesday night amongst their peers and families as they now prepare to embark on an exciting new journey ahead of them.
"It felt great actually because I remember for the last Japan trip, I got selected to go, and this year, I was actually selected to go again. It made me so happy and grateful to go back to Japan. This time around, I really want to make better connections with the people I meet and get to know people more in-depth," told Lima Central Catholic Junior, Emily Blankemeyer.
Lima Senior Junior, Aleksei Jackson, added, "It feels really good. I've never been a part of something like this, so I think this is a bigger step in my journey to becoming a better person. I always had an interest in Japan. I used to study a lot when we had projects in school. I also love the culture and sometimes the music, so I just thought it would be a fun thing to do to discover their culture and how things are in life."
Four students will take part in the trip. For more information on Lima Sister Cities, you can visit their Facebook page.
