Lima students recycle old computer parts to make unique art

The saying goes, "another one's junk is another one's treasure," and students at South Science and Technology Magnet School looked to do just that with old computer parts.

Seventh and eighth graders created an art piece that will be displayed in the building to showcase how recycling old parts can be used to create something beautiful. Students teamed up with instructors to break up and sort "old computer equipment" that can be used to create a visual representation of how recycling can go a long way.

"Our 8th graders really work on the layers of the Earth so we thought if we could do something with that and incorporate it into something that we could display in the building, that would be the best way to go about it," said Christina Fisher, Project Lead the Way teacher. "And our science teacher thought since we're the Science and Technology Magnet, if we could use old computer parts to make that, that would really emphasis what our building is all about."

The program is a partnership between Lima City Schools, Ohio State Lima, and the City of Lima.
