We are delighted to explore Handel’s Water Music, famously premiered for King George I on a barge along the River Thames in 1717, this will open the evening with its lively and festive movements. The Lima Symphony Chorus will then join the orchestra for some of Handel’s most celebrated coronation anthems, including Zadok the Priest, which has accompanied every British coronation since 1727. The concert concludes with Brahms’ Symphony No. 2, an evocative work brimming with pastoral warmth and lyrical beauty, often compared to Beethoven’s own “Pastoral” Symphony.
