Lima veterans who took a trip to Washington D.C returned back to the local area Wednesday.
Honor Flight took a total of seventeen veterans from the local area to the nation's capital earlier this week. The trip serves as a way to thank veterans for their service, as they go from monument to monument and reflect on how they served their nation.
For some, the trip means more, such as the Meyer family... Kevin Meyer, who served in the Vietnam war out of high school -- passed away this month and always wanted to go on the honor flight trip. Members who went on honor flight carried his hat and more to symbolize his journey to the nations capital.
"Kevin had always wanted to do this but wasn't able to because of his health," said Mary Meyer, a relative of Kevin Meyer. "He had three great co-workers/veterans and he wanted them to go. When Kevin passed away I told these guys he will be with you, he will just be flying above you."
