It was a powerful evening at Spartan Stadium as the region gathered to show their support for survivors of cancer. The community came together for the 30th Lima Relay for Life to help raise money for the American Cancer Society Friday evening. The collected funds will go toward cancer research and education along with supporting cancer patients and families. The evening started with the Mercy Health St. Rita's cancer survivors celebration dinner inside Lima Senior followed by the survivor lap around Spartan Stadium. Whether at dinner or on the track, the sight of the community coming together is meaningful for everyone, including cancer survivor Kenneth Wills.

One local man, Tuesday evening, shared his personal story of struggle earlier in his life and how he turned that pain into a positive transformation. Leroy Eddy talked about his journey to a full crowd at the Center for Peace and Reconciliation. Eddy was born in Sandusky, Ohio and later moved to Wapakoneta. During his childhood, Eddy was bullied for the way he looked and endured both physical and emotional trauma. In his late teenage years heading into adulthood, Eddy experienced trouble with the law that landed him a prison sentence, and that prison term was the pivotal moment that helped transform his life from hate and pain to love and success.

An Ohio mother has a lot to be grateful for this Christmas after having a golf ball-sized aneurysm treated in her brain while she was pregnant. Mallory Wehage, who is a mother of three, reflects on the difficult journey she faced after doctors at Cleveland Clinic found a golf-ball-sized aneurysm on her brain. Doctors wasted no time determining the best treatment plan, but there was a big factor they had to consider, her unborn baby. Mallory was pregnant at the time with her third child.

CLEAN stands for "Choices, Leadership, Energy, Attitude and Now". Antonio Smith and Roy Hall started the program in 2017 to assist "restored" citizens. They have worked with more than 2,500 individuals in facilities around the state, including the Worth Center wanting to make a new start when they get out. They now are opening a business center to provide financial education and entrepreneurial training.

What is the one thing on your mind when it comes to the fair? For me, it is the delicious fair food and its sweet aromas that fill the air. With the Allen County Fair going on right now, I thought it would be a good time to stop by and go around to taste the delicious treats that are here at the Allen County Fairgrounds.
