LIMA, OH (WLIO) -Â One local man, Tuesday evening, shared his personal story of struggle earlier in his life and how he turned that pain into a positive transformation.
Leroy Eddy talked about his journey to a full crowd at the Center for Peace and Reconciliation. Eddy was born in Sandusky, Ohio and later moved to Wapakoneta. During his childhood, Eddy was bullied for the way he looked and endured both physical and emotional trauma. In his late teenage years heading into adulthood, Eddy experienced trouble with the law that landed him a prison sentence, and that prison term was the pivotal moment that helped transform his life from hate and pain to love and success.

"In prison, I learned that there is a lot of different people in the world, and that I can get along with all of them. I learned my gift to love on people in prison that I didn't know how to use it, yet, so once I got out of prison, the journey was still a little rough. There was definitely a lot of setbacks, and it wasn't until my mother passed away that Jesus entered my life that I truly started to understand what it meant to love people," shared Leroy Eddy.

Today, Eddy is a case manager for Family Promise of Lima-Allen County where he gets to help guide families on their own journeys toward a bright life. Eddy also fulfills ministry work for local prisoners and shows that a successful life outside of prison is possible.
