LIMA, OH (WLIO) - One local faith-based organization celebrated a major milestone on Thursday night- ten years serving women in the Lima area.
Supporters of Guiding Light came out to their Evening of Inspiration dinner, hearing from a variety of guest speakers about the role faith plays in overcoming life's difficulties. Guiding Light provides shelter, counseling, bible study, and other services to struggling women from all walks of life.
Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and the generosity of donors, they've been able to grow substantially over the past decade and continue to increase the number of women that they can help.
"We just started out with one house and now we have three actual locations. Two for transitional housing, one for a step-down house, and a rental. We're looking to grow, we'd love to go into other areas of Ohio or even the United States," said Julianne Burke, the executive director of Guiding Light.
