Thursday is the day that everyone is Irish and local law enforcement is asking for people to celebrate responsibly.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says not to push your luck this Saint Patrick’s Day. Pick a sober driver as buzzed driving is drunk driving and they will be cracking down. But driving drunk is not the only thing that could get you in trouble with the law. The Lima Police Department is asking people to abide by the law.
Sergeant Aaron Rode with the LPD explains, ”You’re not underage drinking. If someone’s asking for your ID at the establishment you’re providing that ID. And it also comes back as a 50/50 split between us and the bars. The bars also have some responsibility in this as well to make sure they are checking IDs. If they have a metal detector at the door that they are appropriately staffing that metal detector. Things like this stop the police from ever having to come out in the first place.”
They want you to remember that smart decisions are the best decisions while you are out celebrating.
