LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It's almost time for kids to get their candy buckets and costumes out for an afternoon of Halloween fun.
The Lima Noon Optimist Club will be hosting its annual trick-or-treat event at Safety City this Saturday. The event aims to fulfill the promise of Halloween candy and goodies to local kids in a fun and safe way that also celebrates the fall holiday.
"If it's anything like it was last year, we had right around 3,000 people come through the gates at Safety City so it will be a line but you come through, there's tons of businesses there passing out candy. We're going to have a lot of fun, I can't wait to see the costumes- that's always the fun part for me. But we've also got Heroes for Hope coming out, they're the people that dress up as the Marvel superheroes and the West Ohio Food Bank has donated a ton of pumpkins to hand out," stated Eric Mericle, Lima Police Department and Safety City Officer.
The trick-or-treat will take place this Saturday at the Optimist Safety City at 700 South Collett Street from noon to 2 p.m. and is a free community event.
