HARROD — Allen East picked up its second win of the season with a 57-38 victory over Kenton.
Kenton junior Sidney Payne, coming off a school-record 41-point outing earlier in the week, opened the night by finding Emori Criner for a long two in the first quarter. Payne later converted a strong drive to the basket for an and-one, finishing with a game-high 20 points.
Allen East responded quickly. Evelyn Lehman found Brynn Richardson on an in-bounds pass for an easy score, part of Richardson’s 12-point night. Lehman added 12 of her own, including a top-of-the-key three to push the Mustangs’ lead to 26-18 in the second quarter.
Brooklyn Crumrine added a team-high 16 points, including a three-pointer that helped Allen East stay in control from beyond the arc.
Allen East closed out the win 57-38, improving to 2-1 on the season.
