Matching grant awarded to Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership for city improvement

The Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership received their first matching grant that will be used to improve the buildings.

The Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation matched a total of $10,000 that the Partnership raised for their Façade Improvement Funds. The grant was presented to the foundation's president during a meeting held at the Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday.

"It was our brainchild to maybe apply for a matching grant for a high amount, like $10,000," stated Kathy Place the Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership President. "We did, and they accepted that, so we are going to be working with that $10,000 to help improve the buildings on downtown Auglaize Street."

"The Foundation's goal is to be the organized philanthropy organization for the community," said Greg Myers, Executive Director of the Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation. "So that projects that need to be done, there will be funding available through the foundation through its programs to assist with those."
