Mayor's Spring Clean-Up days helping Lima residents get ride of unwanted items

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima residents are taking advantage of a long time program to help get rid of some unwanted items. Saturday was the second of four “Mayor’s Spring Clean-Up” days that the city is offering in 2024. There were four dumpster site locations around the city, and residents could dump a variety of items except for things like chemical waste, appliances, and propane tanks, which the city will dispose of them.

“Maybe you are spring cleaning; maybe you have something in the yard you want to get rid of; maybe you have a bunch of tires and brush, and you are just ready to kind of get rid of it; get ready for summer and fall. So this is an opportunity to bring the stuff that you don’t want to us, and we will take care of it for you,” says Sydni Winkler, Lima Neighborhood Specialist. “People look forward to this every year. My phone blows up as soon as people know that it is coming at the end of April, start of May. It’s fun to get everybody together to kind of hang out for the day and just kind of meet. You never know who you are going to meet or who you are going to talk to, and people definitely utilize these weekends.”
