LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Mercy Health invited members of the community to give thanks to the Mercy Way.
From 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, Mercy Health organized and hosted a community event at Bradfield Center. The event offered Thanksgiving-style food generously donated by Cooper Farms and the West Ohio Food Bank. In addition to food, the event also provided winter clothes distribution, medical treatment, and information stations set up by organizations such as Crime Victim Services and ONU Healthwise.
The Bradfield Community Center's three-part blessing event that it had previously hosted inspired the community event.
"Mercy Health came to us, Anisha came over to introduce herself to us and she heard about the three-part blessing we used to have here and to collaborate with the Bradfield what we used to do and add community resources and education out there for the community for them to receive what they have not received prior," explained Tesha Banks, the program coordinator at the Bradfield Community Center.
"We are addressing giving flu shots, we're also asking families if they have a primary care physician and at the same time addressing needs that they may have in their homes such as food, help with utilities, and then addressing any issues they may be having with their home," added Anisha Pridgen, the community health coordinator for Mercy Health.
With Thanksgiving celebrations wrapping up, Mercy Health will open it's Bright Nights Christmas Display on Sunday, November 26th, from 6pm to 9pm.
