LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — After a quarter century leading Lima Memorial Health System, its chief executive officer is preparing to retire.

Mike Swick, who has served as CEO for 25 years, announced he will step down from his role in July. During his tenure, Swick guided the organization through significant growth, expanded care across the region, and led the health system through the COVID-19 pandemic and a $30 million expansion project.

Mike Swick announces retirement; Lynn Carpenter named next CEO at Lima Memorial Health System

Under Swick’s leadership, Lima Memorial established the Timmermeister Family Surgery Center, the Heart and Vascular Institute, and a Level II Trauma Center. Hospital officials say his commitment to the organization, its associates, patients, and the community has been evident throughout his leadership.

Mike Swick Retiring CEO Lima Memorial Health System "I'm very proud of what we've accomplished here and stuff, but it takes the team to do it. It's not an individual and stuff. We're all on the same page, and that's what makes a difference for us, is that we're a family, and the family gets together to make sure things are done right."

The Lima Memorial Health System Board of Trustees has named current President and Chief Operating Officer Lynn Carpenter as the next president and chief executive officer, replacing Swick. Carpenter brings more than 30 years of service to the organization and has held a series of progressive leadership roles during her tenure.

She said she is looking forward to her new role and leading the organization into the future.

"What I love about Lima Memorial is we look to grow individuals, and I think I'm a great example of that. And while I didn't start here thinking about a CEO role, there have been so many opportunities that I've been afforded. And again, it's just a great place to work and to serve."

Both Swick and Carpenter said they have been working closely with the board to ensure the leadership transition is as seamless as possible.
