LIMA, OH (WLIO) - For 6 Lima homeowners, they can put their mortgage payments in the past.
Since starting their organization 24 years ago, they have added 243 affordable housing units for Lima residents.
New Lima-Housing For The Future honored homeowners becoming debt-free with a mortgage-burning ceremony. Since starting their organization 24 years ago, they have added 243 affordable housing units for Lima residents. Following these homeowners throughout their journeys is part of what keeps them going.
"I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am today. I personally worked with each one of these families to make this happen, and each one of them faced, although different, along the way faced a difficult circumstance. Not only did we face COVID, came through that, but each one of them faced something personally; that would've been the perfect opportunity for them to just walk away and not finish this. I couldn't be more proud that they all stuck it out. I've been standing in the front row cheering them on the whole time. It's just such a proud moment," says Scott Frenger, Executive Director of New Lima-Housing For The Future.
The City of Lima is appreciative of New Lima-Housing For The Future and is looking forward to continuing the partnership between them.
